Privacy Policy
This policy explains what Umka Mining Services does with personal data. It is written against the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (the NDPA), which is the law that applies to us.
1Who is responsible
Umka Mining Services is the data controller for the personal data described here. You can reach us at info@umkamining.com.
2What this website collects
This website collects nothing about you. That is a statement about how it is built, not a promise about the future:
- There are no analytics or measurement scripts of any kind.
- There are no cookies, and nothing is written to local storage. You will not have seen a cookie banner, because there is nothing to consent to.
- There are no forms, no accounts and no sign-ups. The only way to contact us from this site is a link that opens your own email client.
- No third-party fonts, embeds, trackers or advertising pixels are loaded. Everything the page needs is served from our own domain.
Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs, which can include IP addresses, for security and to keep the site running. We do not use those logs to build a profile of you.
If this changes, whether by adding a contact form, a newsletter or analytics, this policy will be updated before the change goes live.
3What we collect if you email us
If you write to us, we receive whatever you put in the message: your name, your email address, your company, and whatever you tell us about what you are looking for. We also receive the technical headers your mail provider attaches.
4Why we are allowed to hold it
Under section 25 of the NDPA our lawful bases are:
- Legitimate interest: answering an enquiry you sent us, and keeping a record of a commercial conversation.
- Performance of a contract: where an enquiry becomes an actual transaction, doing what we agreed to do.
- Legal obligation: where tax, customs, minerals or anti-money-laundering law requires us to keep records.
5Who else sees it
We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing. It may be seen by our email provider, which hosts the mailbox, and by our professional advisers, bank or regulators where a transaction or the law requires it.
6Where it goes
Our email is hosted by a provider that may store and process messages outside Nigeria. Under sections 41 to 43 of the NDPA, personal data may be transferred abroad where there is an adequate level of protection or another lawful basis for the transfer. If you would rather your information stayed in Nigeria, say so and we will arrange another way to correspond.
7How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not lead anywhere are deleted within 24 months. Records connected to an actual transaction are kept for as long as tax and minerals law requires, and then deleted.
8Your rights
Under the NDPA you may:
- ask what we hold about you, and get a copy;
- have anything inaccurate corrected;
- ask us to delete it, where we have no continuing legal reason to keep it;
- ask us to restrict what we do with it, or object to it;
- ask for it in a portable form;
- withdraw consent, where consent was the basis.
Write to info@umkamining.com and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
9Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Access to our mailbox is restricted to people who need it. No system is perfectly secure, and we will not claim otherwise; if a breach occurs that is likely to result in risk to your rights, we will notify the Commission and, where required, you.
10Children
This is a business-to-business site and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
11Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. Material changes will be described here rather than made quietly.
